The Terrorism Campaign Against Planned Parenthood Continues
About that report yesterday of a lockdown at the hospital where victims of the PP clinic shooting were taken:
Man arrested near hospital after he threatened to shoot surviving Planned Parenthood attack victim https://t.co/pDMze3vSNu

The report indicates:
A man was detained Monday afternoon at the Memorial Hospital Central parking garage as police investigated reports of a “suspicious person” making threats to shoot one of the victims from Friday’s deadly Planned Parenthood attack, police said.
The man, whose identity was not released, was questioned and released after police did not consider him a threat, said Sgt. James Sokolik, a Colorado Springs police spokesman.
Sokolik said he did not immediately know the man’s motivation.
The search for a “suspicious person” began shortly after 11 a.m. at Penrose Hospital, where three of the shooting victims are receiving treatment, said Andrea Sinclair, a hospital spokeswoman.
So, shooting Planned Parenthood patients and staff wasn’t enough. Shooting and killing a cop (and shooting and injuring others) wasn’t enough.
There was yet another right wing extremist who wanted to take matters into his own hands and engage in terrorism.
Let’s call this what it is: right wing terrorism.
Abortion is legal and safe for women —when they’re not dodging right wing extremists threatening them with harm (both in setting up legal roadblocks that may keep them from getting access to health care, reproductive care and abortions via TRAP laws, and in actual physical violence condoned by far too many on the right).
One terrorist attack wasn’t enough. We had yet another potential terror attack thwarted within 48 hours of the first attack on the CO PP facility.
The right wing owns it. But the party of personal responsibility refuses to acknowledge the beast of their own creation. They continue to lie and smear Planned Parenthood with claims of sales of “baby parts,” none of which are substantiated, let alone proven. All the investigations at the state and federal level have found precisely NO evidence of any wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood.
No wrongdoing. No sales of fetal tissue.
Though many have charged that the videos show Planned Parenthood “selling baby parts,” that is not in fact true. The organization only accepts small reimbursements on the order of $50 or so to cover their costs when making these transfers, and the videos don’t show them doing anything different.)
And a further reminder for all those right wing extremists who think that getting reimbursed for transportation, storage, and handling of fetal tissue donations is somehow compensation, the federal law that governs the donation of fetal tissue explicitly states that those charges are not compensation. To wit:
(d) DEFINITIONS - For purposes of this section:
(1) The term human fetal tissue’ has the meaning given such term in section 498A(f).
(2) The term interstate commerce’ has the meaning given such term in section 201(b) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
(3) The term valuable consideration’ does not include reasonable payments associated with the transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control, or storage of human fetal tissue.’.
In plain English, this means anyone processing a fetal tissue donation can seek reimbursement for the transportation, processing, preservation, or storage of fetal tissue and it isn’t compensation.
Everyone in Congress knows, or should know this to be the law. The GOP has used the bogus CMP videos as a way to attack Planned Parenthood, and the hearings they’ve held so far have turned up absolutely no wrongdoing.
All this is conveniently ignored by the right wing mouthpieces who repeat the lies and slanders about Planned Parenthood, incite others to violence and provide justifications for terrorism or later condone the violence. This must not be allowed to stand.
The efforts to defund and destroy Planned Parenthood have been a right wing goal for years on end, and the CMP videos were just the latest scheme to force the issue. Every attempt to reduce funding, shutter clinics, and force expensive changes onto clinics deprives women across the nation of access to health care.
It is an assault on women - pure and simple.
